Creative Carpentry

Category: Skills

Participants in this class will complete at least two projects made from recycled wood. Old timber has a character and texture that cannot be replicated. In recycling an old piece of wood, you allow the timber to live on with a new purpose.

Part one: 5 Nights

Design and make a decorative mirror from recycled timber

  • Participants will construct a mirror from recycled wood.
  • They will design the mirror with the help of the instructor.
  • This part of the course will have an emphasis on the preparation of recycled wood and the use of different wood finishes, stains, dyes and varnishes
  • All materials including the mirror will be supplied

Part two: 5 Nights

Design and make a wall-mounted shelving unit from recycled timber

  • Participants are encouraged to bring in an old piece of furniture with a view to dismantling it for reuse in this project.
  • The participant will develop further their woodworking skills through the use of simple joints and shaping processes.
  •  The level of difficulty can be adjusted to suit each participant’s skill level.

This class runs for 10 x Monday nights from 7-9.30pm.
