Special Needs Assistant (Diploma) Fetac Level 6

Participant Profile:
This course is specifically designed for those who have successfully completed the Special Needs Assistant Training Frobel Certificate with the College of Practical Child Care

Course Syllabus:

  • Educational provision for the special needs child
  • Curriculum based studies
  • Observational skills
  • Needs of individuals with special needs
  • Personal and professional development

The course will run for 6 Saturdays over a period of 4 months. Students are required to complete 80 hours work experience with a special needs child over the term, it is up to each individual student to find a placement.

Successful students of the Certificate course will achieve a Certificate in Special Needs Training from Frobel and a Component Certificate in Special Needs Training (FETAC Level 6).

As Places are limited on this course we do not take reservations until our open evening, (contact our office for details) we will require a non-refundable deposit of €350 to secure a place.

Course Provider

The course is provided by the College of Progressive Education, formerly know as The School of Practical Childcare. The college was founded in 1996 and is now the largest private college in Ireland.

Accreditation:
FETAC awards are placed within the National Framework of qualifications.  This framework includes further and higher education and training awards.  This will greatly extend opportunities for access, transfer and progression for all learners.

Froebel College of Education, Sion Hill, established by the Dominican Order, is one of the five Colleges in the Republic of Ireland recognized by the Department of Education and Science for the training and education of primary school teachers.  Froebel College awards the degree of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) and the Higher Diploma in Education (Primary Teaching).
