Japanese for Beginners

In this course, we will start with learning some important phrase, such as “Hello” and “Thank you”, as well as kana alphabets and numbers. At this point, we will also learn how Japanese really sounds and how it’s pronounced by using simple words.

After that, we aim to cover the following 5 lessons of very basic Japanese.

  Lesson 1 Introductions

Example: “How do you do.” “I’m Paddy Murphy.” “I’m very glad to meet you.”

Lesson 2 Describing objects

Example: “This is a lamp.” “What is this?” “That is my bag.”

Lesson 3 Place and location, Shopping

Example: “That is the lift.” “Where is the bathroom?” “How much is this?”

Lesson 4 Day and time, Telephone number

Example: “The bank opens from 9am to 3pm.” “What is your phone number?”

Lesson 5 Going and coming, Birthday

Example: “I’m going to Kyoto by train.” “My birthday is 6th October.”

The course is divided into 5 lessons. Each lesson may take longer than one night so while there are 5 lessons listed this content will make up the bulk of the course.

I will also introduce a couple of casual little words and phrases which used by many Japanese people, and I will also talk about some Japanese culture with you.
