Participant profile.

This course is designed for people with an interest in reproducing a scaled replica of an artefact, eg. boat, steam engine, tractor or motorbike.  The course aims to provide participants with the practical skills to help them complete their chosen model. Over the 10 weeks the tutor will demonstrate a range of engineering processes which will equip the participant with sufficient knowledge for them to work on their own model independently. Students will get an opportunity to practice processes after skills demonstrations.

Sheet metal work cutting/Shaping

Metal Joining

Turning using a lathe

Milling using a Milling machine

Welding  (Electric Arc and MIG)

Advice on Sand blasting/ Preparation of metals.

Advice on project selection  

 

This course will be followed by another 10 week course where participants can work on their own models under the supervision of the Tutor.
