Applied Skills Exams
for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

This course will prepare students to become members of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

It is suitable for people who have completed their Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) Diploma. It is also relevant for people with accountancy degrees looking to fill gaps in their exemptions to move on to ACCA Strategic Professional Exams.

There are three elements to the ACCA Qualification on your journey to ACCA membership.

This night class will see you complete the first element, your ACCA exams, in FIVE modules of the Applied Skills. The programme will start each September, allowing you to complete the six modules in the Applied Skills Level.

ACCA STRUCTURE

 

1. Applied Knowledge

The Applied Knowledge exams provide students with a broad introduction to the world of finance and develop your essential understanding and techniques in accounting. 

IMPORTANT: Students who have successfully completed the ATI diploma will be exempt from these exams depending on their results. (See Exemptions below):

  • Accountant in Business (AB)
  • Management Accounting (MA)
  • Financial Accounting (FA)

2. Applied Skills

The Applied Skills exams build on existing knowledge and understanding and develop strong, broad and practical finance skills required of future strategic professional accountant in any sector or industry. These exams are:

Corporate and Business Law (LW) - (students with an ATI diploma will be exempt from this subject only, based on previous results. See Exemptions below)

  • Taxation (TX)
  • Financial Reporting (FR)
  • Audit and Assurance (AA)
  • Financial Management (FM)

 

Delivery Plan

This programme will be delivered on Tuesday nights starting each September and will take two academic years to complete.

Delivered one night per week on alternate weeks

Fees

These are the costs that will be incurred:

Fees payable to ACCA (please note these are in sterling)

Registration £79

Annual Subscription £112

Exams/Exemptions  £114 each approx.

Fees payable to Adult Education Department, Gorey Community School

Tuition €790 per module

Your Tuition fee includes a mock exam, a study manual and material

Payment structure per module

€600 In Instalments

 

Exemptions

Students who have passed all of their ATI subjects are entitled to exemptions from:

Paper F1 (Accountant in Business), based on a Pass in Business Management

Paper F2 (Management Accounting), based on a Pass in Management Accounting

Paper F3 (Financial Accounting), based on a Pass in both Financial Accounting and Advanced Financial Accounting

Paper F4 (Corporate and Business Law), based on a Pass in Law & Ethics

  

This applies to students who passed their ATI subjects since January 1, 2018.

If you completed your ATI exams before 2018, you must have achieved a Merit Pass in order to obtain these exemptions.
