Monday x 10 nights, Autumn term.
This unique class will introduce you to claymodelling of the human head in the round.
You will be given an overview of head sculptures from ancient Greek and Roman times,and the anatomy of the human head.
1. Participants will construct an armature to support the work.
2. Participants will model from photos and real life, exploring the structure of the skull and face.
3. Using the medium of self-hardening clay, participants can create a portrait or self portrait head.
4. Initially, the class will work from photos or jpegs and the final five classes will allow students to model a head from life.
Irene Plazewska is a very experienced sculptor who has recently exhibited works in The National Botanics Sculpture in Context Exhibition in Dublin. Irene
trained in Chicago and Dublin and works in ceramics, copper, wood and cement. She has also worked in aluminium, and silver and is a knowledgeable mould maker.
She previously taught claymodelling and casting in Dun Laoghaire School of Art (now DLIADT).
