Painting Like the Masters - Painting the Figure

Category: Leisure & Hobbies

In this term of Painting Like the Masters with Mary Reynolds, the focus is on figurative painting.

The teachers presents a painting and the students transcribe it. Students paint their version of the painting, not a flawless copy.

The paintings chosen for the course may include works by Picasso, Kees Van Dongen, Alice Neel, Henri Maisse, and Suzanne Valadon amongst others.

Each student progresses at their own pace. And students can paint their own figurative ideas too.

While transcribing wonderful paintings, you can lean how to draw/paint the face and the figure, as well as composition and colour.

The tutor assists with drawing and painting tenchiques, and colour mixing.

This course is best suited to students with some painting experience.

Acrylic paints (no oil paints.)

On the first night, bring acrylic paints and brushes you already own and a canvas or board around 14"x18" (36x46cm). Students will recieve a list of art materials from the tutor.
