Intellectual Disability Studies (5N1652) QQI Level 5

This course is suitable for people who want to work in the care environment, e.g. a residential care centre  or day care facility. It is also suitable for those already working in this environment but wish to obtain certification.

Course Content:

• Learners who successfully complete this module will: 
  • Understand the concept of intellectual disability and its contexts.
  • Be familiar with national and local models of services for people
  • with intellectual disability and their families.
  • Demonstrate good work practices in the provision of holistic care for people with intellectual disability and their families
  • Be able to meet the full range of needs of people with intellectual disability in a variety of settings and across the full lifespan.
