QQI: Early Childhood Care and Education (6M2007) Level 6

Certification for this programme will cease from December 2023. Students wishing to complete a full 6M2007 certificate should aim to complete their modules and have them certified before the end of November 2023.

From September 2015, Preschool Leaders delivering the free Pre-School Year programme must have a minimum Level 6 qualification, or equivalent. This Early Childhood Care and Education Level 6 Major award programme (6M2007) will be a great boost to your career in childcare. At least one person in each childcare centre or crèche must have this qualification, to meet the requirements of the Government’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) scheme.

This Award will equip you with the knowledge, skill, and ability to work independently and to supervise others in the provision of quality early childhood care and education.

Progression

You will be able to seek work or promotion in a nursery, crèche, pre -school, or an after-school service.
This qualification is also a stepping stone to related third level degree courses subject to specific requirements.
